Titus - Week 5 Day 3

RECEIVE 

Titus 3:6-7 

⁶ He generously poured out the Spirit upon us through Jesus Christ our Savior. ⁷ Because of his grace he made us right in his sight and gave us confidence that we will inherit eternal life. 

Paul continued to write about what God the Savior has done for believers. By means of Jesus Christ the Holy Spirit was generously poured out on believers. It was by God’s grace that He made believers right in His sight. He also gave believers “confidence” they would inherit eternal life. The Greek word translated “confidence” is the common one for “hope.” It is a hope, however, based on facts and the promise of God, not just wishful thinking. 

REFLECT 

How about you? Do you have confidence that when you pass from this life you will go to be with Jesus in eternity? God wants you to be confident of this. If you have doubts, read and believe what is said in 1 John 5:11-13. 

RESPOND Salvation is by grace alone through faith alone in the Lord Jesus alone. Because of this you can be confident of having eternal life. Passages that reveal salvation is not by good works are such as Romans 4:4-8 and Ephesians 2:8-9. Good works come later as the believer reveals his or her gratitude to God. Talk about this with a friend.
