RECEIVE
Titus 3:13
13 Do everything you can to help Zenas the lawyer and Apollos with their trip. See that they are given everything they need.
This is the only mention of Zenas in the New Testament. Even though readers today do not know who Paul referred to, Titus would know. Here we learn Zenas was a lawyer. There could have been others known as Apollos so it is not certain it is the same one mentioned in Acts 18:24-26. Paul wanted Titus to be sure these men were given everything they needed.
REFLECT
There were names that were common in Bible times even as there are today. For instance, there were many known as “Mary” so one must rely on the context to tell which Mary. The same is true for “Judas.”
RESPOND
Talk with a friend about the need to read the Bible in a discerning fashion as you would today’s newspaper. If more than one person has the same name it is necessary to read some of the background to know which one is being referred to.
