REFLECT

Sometimes God comes through in the most amazing ways. It doesn’t take much faith to believe in Him. When we follow Jesus, not only should we seek His help in times of need, but we should also share His goodness with others.

JULIEANN’S STORY

Every time it rained, our basement would turn into a waterfall as rainwater poured down the walls. I asked God for help, crying out, “Take this, Lord. I don’t have the money to pay for the repairs. Please, Lord. I need You.”

It was during prayer that I remembered my favorite Bible verse about a mustard seed in

JULIEANN’S STORY

Matthew 17:20. “For verily I say unto you, if ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you (KJV).”

One day, with my son in his wheelchair beside me and my emergency respite child sleeping nearby, I prayed: “Please, Lord, I need this roof taken care of. I don’t have the strength to keep cleaning up all this water. I don’t think this will get fixed without Your help.”

At 10:30 that morning, I heard a knock at the front door. A man I’d never met said, “Every time I drive by, I get the sense I need to stop. I’ve seen you pushing your son in a wheelchair, and I’ve noticed your roof. I want to give you a new roof.”

A new roof for free! I was shocked. My initial thought was that it was a scam. I couldn’t believe it, but he explained that he had leftover supplies from other roofing jobs and wanted to use those materials to replace our roof. It wasn’t long before his crew got to work and replaced our roof with a brand new one. No more water in the basement! God answered my prayers, giving us more than I ever imagined. I was so blessed, but the story didn’t end there.

During the construction, we parked our truck on the street. One afternoon, there was another knock from a stranger who had the same model truck and had just blown a tire down the street. Could he borrow a spare tire for a few days? He’d buy a new tire when he got paid and bring ours back. I looked up and said, “Lord, You have blessed us with a roof. This man is asking for a tire. We will give him a tire.”

I told the man he didn’t need to bring the tire back, but each day I felt the Lord nudging me to share our story when he returned. A week later, he showed up and began talking with my husband. I noticed a young woman sitting in the truck, so while they spoke, I started a conversation and told her how God answered my prayer. I feel so blessed to have been part of God’s plan—He truly can work all things for our good.

How big is your faith?

RESPOND

God, You have blessed me, yet sometimes I forget that every good thing comes from You. Please give me faith that grows like a mustard seed, that turns to You and trusts in You for every need. Then, help me turn to others to tell them of Your faithfulness and glory! Amen.

REVEAL

Has God been telling you to help someone, but you keep “driving by” instead of stopping? Maybe it’s as big as repairing a roof or as simple as sharing a meal. Don’t let the day end before reaching out to that person.
