READ
Colossians 1:15-16
15 Christ is the visible image of the invisible God. He existed before anything was created and is supreme over all creation, 16 for through him God created everything in the heavenly realms and on earth. He made the things we can see
and the things we can’t see—such as thrones, kingdoms, rulers, and authorities in the unseen world. Everything was created through him and for him.
Paul entered into a theological discourse at this point to answer the false religion at the time. It was called “Gnosticism” that taught only the spirit is good and matter is evil. How could an evil material world be created by a spiritual God? Gnosticism taught that there were several emanations from the true God until Jesus was so far away in His creation that He created the material world. Jesus is not a created being; He is part of the godhead.
REFLECT
Think about how great Jesus is. “Everything was created through him and for him.” And you have the privilege of knowing this Jesus as your personal Savior.
RESPOND
With your friend, read John 1:1-14 that tells about Jesus being God and that He came to live among mankind.
