Colossians – Week 2 – Day 5

READ 

Colossians 1:19-20 

19 For God in all his fullness was pleased to live in Christ, 20 and through him God reconciled everything to himself. He made peace with everything in heaven and on earth by means of Christ’s blood on the cross. 

The Gnostics taught that Jesus was less than God, but Paul said Jesus had all the “fullness” of God in Him. Some today teach that Jesus is less than God. If Jesus had not been fully man, He could not have died on the cross; if He had not been fully God His death could not have benefitted all mankind that believe in Him. Notice it was by Christ’s death on the cross that reconciliation to God is possible. 

REFLECT 

If someone tells you Jesus is not God, tell them that is not what the Bible says. And it is always better to believe what God has had written in the Bible rather than someone’s opinion.  

RESPOND 

From Old Testament times the Jews and Gentiles had great animosity toward each other. Read Ephesians 2:15-17 to see that Jesus brought them together in one body. This great truth was not known in the Old Testament so it was called a “mystery.” Thank the Lord that people need not have animosity toward others; especially those who are believers in Jesus.
