READ
Colossians 1:24-25
24 I am glad when I suffer for you in my body, for I am participating in the sufferings of Christ that continue for his body, the church. 25 God has given me the responsibility of serving his church by proclaiming his entire message to you.
Paul was in prison as he wrote this. He considered it a privilege to be part of the sufferings of Christ. Paul recognized this suffering continued for believers in the Church, the body of Christ. The suffering accompanied Paul’s responsibility of preaching the gospel to others. Many throughout the ages have suffered as they have proclaimed the gospel to others.
REFLECT
Think about what some have suffered as they have proclaimed the gospel to others. Some are suffering for it today. Perhaps you know of some who live in countries where persecution exists for even claiming to know the Lord Jesus Christ. Pray for them.
RESPOND
Spend time talking with your friend about the suffering some may be enduring for telling others about Jesus. Perhaps you have experienced some of this. Read together Romans 8:16-18 for insight and encouragement.
