Colossians – Week 3 – Day 4

Colossians 1:26-27 

26 This message was kept secret for centuries and generations past, but now it has been revealed to God’s people. 27 For God wanted them to know that the riches and glory of Christ are for you Gentiles, too. And this is the secret: Christ lives in you. This gives you assurance of sharing his glory. 

In the past, the Jewish people thought the blessing of God was only for them. This is why Paul wrote it was a “secret” that has now been revealed. The riches and glory of Christ are not only for the Jews but also for the Gentiles. Notice the secret Paul shared with them: “Christ lives in you.” The Jewish people had the temple in which God’s symbolic presence dwelled, but now believers have the living Christ inside of them. 

REFLECT 

As a believer in Jesus, you have a treasure that is unmatched—Christ lives in you! Do others see the characteristics of Jesus reflected in your life? 

RESPOND 

The Jews had their physical temple but now the temple of God is each believer who trusts in Jesus for salvation. With your friend, read 2 Corinthians 6:14-18 that tells about this. Believers should consider themselves to be the temple of the living God. Be sure you live like it.
