READ
Colossians 1:28-29
28 So we tell others about Christ, warning everyone and teaching everyone with all the wisdom God has given us. We want to present them to God, perfect in their relationship to Christ. 29 That’s why I work and struggle so hard, depending on Christ’s mighty power that works within me.
Paul’s desire was to disciple believers in such a way they would grow in their spiritual maturity. The word “perfect” in verse 28 refers to that which is complete or mature. Every believer has a perfect position in Christ, but on earth life is a process of becoming more mature. This is true not only physically but also spiritually.
REFLECT
How is your spiritual growth? Think about the last few years. Are you more sensitive to sin now than previously? Are you bothered more by the wrong things you read and watch?
RESPOND
As you work with your friend going through Colossians, you have the privilege of helping that individual to become more spiritually mature. Talk about this and how your lives show this over time, both in biblical knowledge and the way it is applied to daily living.
