READ
Colossians 2:13-15
13 You were dead because of your sins and because your sinful nature was not yet cut away. Then God made you alive with Christ, for he forgave all our sins. 14 He canceled the record of the charges against us and took it away by nailing it to the cross. 15 In this way, he disarmed the spiritual rulers and authorities. He shamed them publicly by his victory over them on the cross.
Paul emphasized to the readers that by trusting in Jesus as Savior God made them alive in Christ. This is because God forgave them of their sins because of what His only Son had done for them on the cross. The record of debt against every person was canceled by the death of Jesus on the cross for all who believe in Him.
REFLECT
Have you thought lately about what a great debt against you has been cancelled by Jesus’ death on the cross for you?
RESPOND
Take time to talk with your friend about the charges against all sinners that was paid in full by the Lord Jesus when He gave His life on the cross. Remind others, however, that the benefits of His death only apply to those who trust in Him as Savior.
