READ
Colossians 2:16-17
16 So don’t let anyone condemn you for what you eat or drink, or for not celebrating certain holy days or new moon ceremonies or Sabbaths. 17 For these rules are only shadows of the reality yet to come. And Christ himself is that reality.
Before his conversion on the road to Damascus, the apostle Paul was a Pharisee, one of the strictest sects in the Jewish religion. Days and diets had been extremely important to Paul then. After he became a Christ-follower, he wrote this passage about not judging each other based on differences in days and diets. Instead, the focus should be on the Lord Jesus Christ.
REFLECT
Are these verses helpful to you in your relationship with other believers? One does not earn credit with God by keeping rules but by serving the Lord Jesus out of love for Him and others.
RESPOND
You and your friend should read Matthew 22:37-39 to see what Jesus said is the greatest commandment, as well as what is equally important. Are you both doing these?
