READ
Colossians 4:2-4
2 Devote yourselves to prayer with an alert mind and a thankful heart. 3 Pray for us, too, that God will give us many opportunities to speak about his mysterious plan concerning Christ. That is why I am here in chains. 4 Pray that I will proclaim this message as clearly as I should.
Paul’s instructions provide an example of what believers today can ask others to pray for them. Just as he was concerned about opportunities to speak about Jesus Christ, that should be the desire of every believer today. Paul was in prison but still wanted the ability to clearly proclaim the gospel. He was convinced the gospel message was not imprisoned.
REFLECT
If Paul sought opportunities in prison to present the gospel, think how those out of prison should seek the same. Thankfully, prison ministries today have reached many for Christ and have given them a passion to share their faith. Are you taking advantage of the opportunities you have?
RESPOND
Read Philippians 1:12-18 to see Paul’s belief that even though he was in prison it became an opportunity for the furtherance of the gospel. Even though some were preaching from wrong motives, Paul was pleased the name of Christ was being made known. Even Covid-19 can allow for a furtherance of the gospel.
