Colossians – Week 9 – Day 2

READ

Colossians 4:10-11

10 Aristarchus, who is in prison with me, sends you his greetings, and so does Mark, Barnabas’s cousin. As you were instructed before, make Mark welcome if he comes your way. 11 Jesus (the one we call Justus) also sends his greetings. These are the only Jewish believers among my co-workers; they are working with me here for the Kingdom of God. And what a comfort they have been!

Paul referred to the only Jewish believers among his coworkers when he mentioned Aristarchus, Mark and Justus. Aristarchus was a fellow prisoner. Mark was Barnabas’s cousin and had gone on the first missionary journey but left Paul and Barnabas before the trip was over. Paul was greatly discouraged with him then but now tells the believers in Colosse to welcome him.

REFLECT

Paul wrote that these three Jewish believers had been a comfort to him. Have you been a comfort to leaders in your church?

RESPOND

Mark left Paul and Barnabas on the first missionary trip. Read Acts 15:36-41 that tells about the division this brought between Paul and Barnabas when they were preparing for another trip.
