Malachi - Week 2 - Day 1

Less Than the Best

READ

Malachi 1:12-13

12 “But you dishonor my name with your actions. By bringing contemptible food, you are saying it’s all right to defile the Lord’s table. 13 You say, ‘It’s too hard to serve the LORD,’ and you turn up your noses at my commands,” says the LORD of Heaven’s Armies. “Think of it! Animals that are stolen and crippled and sick are being presented as offerings! Should I accept from you such offerings as these?” asks the LORD.

The LORD (Jehovah) continues to tell the priests how they have dishonored Him by their worthless sacrifices. The priests thought it was too hard to serve the Lord and it was acceptable to offer crippled and sick animals to Him. This is not reasonable on a human level, let alone as an act of worship of a holy God who has provided eternal benefits.

REFLECT

Does this remind you that God deserves your best? How does this affect your life and service to Him?

RESPOND

Join with a fellow Christian and read Romans 5:1-11 to see what you can be thankful for as you realize all the Lord Jesus has done for you.
