Malachi - Week 4 - Day 5

Judgment Against the Wicked

READ

Malachi 3:5

5 “At that time I will put you on trial. I am eager to witness against all sorcerers and adulterers and liars. I will speak against those who cheat employees of their wages, who oppress widows and orphans, or who deprive the foreigners living among you of justice, for these people do not fear me,” says the LORD of Heaven’s Armies.

God’s judgment will be against “sorcerers”—those practicing occultism with drugs: “adulterers”—those who have sexual relationships outside of marriage; “liars”—those who are characterized by not telling the truth. God will also judge those who have not treated others fairly. Those responsible for acting this way “do not fear me, says the LORD.”

REFLECT

How does your life line up with what God is against?

RESPOND

The word “sorcerers” is also seen in Revelation 22:15. It comes from a Greek word from which the word “pharmacy” is derived. It has to do with drugs. This indicates in the end times the drug culture will be even worse than it is today.
