Return to Me
READ
Malachi 3:6-7
6 “I am the LORD, and I do not change. That is why you descendants of Jacob are not already destroyed. 7 Ever since the days of your ancestors, you have scorned my decrees and failed to obey them. Now return to me, and I will return to you,” says the LORD of Heaven’s Armies. “But you ask, ‘How can we return when we have never gone away?’”
God does not change in that He extends grace to all who will believe in Him. He also does not change in that He blesses those who obey Him and withholds blessing from those who do not obey Him. The religious leaders in the days of Malachi were so spiritually callused they did not think they had departed from obeying God’s decrees.
REFLECT
Is your heart tender toward God in wanting to obey that which honors Him? What are some of your concerns for doing so at this time?
RESPOND
Read Revelation 3:15-17 to see what Jesus said to those in the church of Laodicea. Jesus is not pleased with those who have no passion for serving Him.
