READ
Malachi 4:1
1 The LORD of Heaven’s Armies says, “The day of judgment is coming, burning like a furnace. On that day the arrogant and the wicked will be burned up like straw. They will be consumed—roots, branches, and all.”
God is a God of love, but He also brings judgment on sin. “On that day the arrogant and the wicked will be burned up like straw,” does not mean they are annihilated but that they are excluded from His kingdom on earth. Following the time when believers are caught up to be with Jesus (see 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18) there will be a time of Tribulation such as the world has never seen before. At the end of that time there will a separation of people, seen in Matthew 25.
REFLECT
Do you realize that God will someday judge the wicked? Pray that people trust Him as Savior now so they will not experience this judgment.
RESPOND
Read Matthew 25:31-46 to see the time of judgment referred to that will precede the Lord’s 1000-year reign on earth.
