The One Daily Rhythm That Builds a Life That Lasts - Part 2

The most spiritually alive people I know aren't any smarter than normal. They aren't more gifted. They don't have more time. But they have one thing in common — a daily rhythm with God they refuse to give up. And finding that rhythm is the single most motivating, life-giving, legacy-building decision you will ever make.
Let me tell you what I've observed over the past 20 years of studying American spiritual life.
The men and women who finish well don't just stumble into joy at seventy. They don't luck into purpose at eighty. They have a rhythm, a cadence, a heartbeat of Scripture running through them the way a drumbeat runs through a song. Without it, the song falls apart. With it, the song holds — through storm, through loss, through the slow erosion of getting older in a culture that whispers you no longer matter.
This rhythm has a name. We call it Scripture Absorption. And it moves in four beats — Read. Reflect. Respond. Reveal.
READ — You read the Bible and receive God’s truth into your life. Not as homework. Not as guilt. But because you know that's where true spiritual nourishment is found. Whether you only read a chapter in the morning, or a single verse before bed, you have spent time in God’s Word. That's the beat.
REFLECT — You reflect on what you read and let it work within you. You turn it over in your mind throughout the day. At the traffic light. In the grocery line. You ask: What is this saying about God? What is this saying about me? Reflection isn't just a technique for Bible college students, meditating on Scripture day and night, it's something we all can do. “This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success” (Joshua 1:8).
RESPOND — You act on what you have read and let it slowly transform your life. You become the person God wants you to become. You start seeing the fruit of the Holy Spirit growing in your life. “The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control” (Galatians 5:22-23).
And here's the beat most Christians miss. The one that breaks everything open.
REVEAL — You tell someone. You share what God just showed you. Not in a sermon. Not on social media. But face-to-face, one human to another. You tell them, "Hey, this hit me this morning. Can I tell you about it?" That's the fourth beat. And it's the one that turns your private faith into a life that actually multiplies.
The first three beats are vital: Read, Reflect, Respond. It’s through these daily beats that you become a better version of yourself. You become more aligned with God’s will and His purpose in this world. And importantly, you also become a beacon of God’s light in a dark world. Someone whose ordinary Tuesday conversations shine the light of the living God into the lives of the people around you.
But the fourth beat, Reveal, is the beat that turns a disciple into a disciple-maker.
And here's what may surprise you — the people who add that fourth beat don't burn out. They come alive. Because God designed us to give away what we've received, every time you share what God is showing you, His truth takes root deeper in your own soul.
So let me ask you a question I had to ask myself:
If you keep going at your current rhythm for the next ten years — what kind of person will you become?
Picture it. Is that the person your family needs? Are they the neighbor, the friend, the disciple God called you to become? If not, the fix isn't trying harder, or a new app or devotional. The fix is a rhythm. Four beats. Every day.
Read. Reflect. Respond. Reveal.
It doesn’t have to be perfect, and it doesn’t have to be anything fancy. It just needs to be daily. I'm living proof this works. So are tens of thousands of others in our community. You can be next.
And it's never too late to start. Start tomorrow morning in fact. Open the Bible and Receive God’s Word. Afterwards, sit with it and Reflect on what God is teaching you. Then as you resume your day, Respond to God’s truth by acting on it. And finally, Reveal what God has been doing in your life to someone else.
Then do it again. That's the rhythm that changes everything. Your mornings. Your marriage. Your witness. Your legacy.
