"READ THE ROOM" and help us write a motivational daily devotion series.

This phrase is more than just a saying; it’s a call to action. It means being attuned to the mood, opinions, and reactions of those around you so you can respond with clarity, purpose, and grace. In other words, it’s about understanding the moment and acting accordingly.

Bottom Line Upfront: Please join me. “Read the room” and help write a motivational daily devotion series based on your favorite verse(s) and your personal stories of how that Scripture helped motivate you through a very difficult situation.

That’s right, I need as many of you as possible to take action in order to grasp the social and spiritual atmosphere of our time. Then, we can adapt our efforts to make the greatest impact on non-believers as well as notional believers who do not engage the Bible at a transformative level.

Simply reply back to me right now with one of your favorite verses and how it has impacted your life. Imagine the impact we could have from a real grassroots level!

Now, let’s talk about two trends, one remarkable and one tragic that demand our attention:

  1. Bible Sales Are Skyrocketing! This year alone, Bible sales have surged by a staggering 22%, dwarfing the 1% growth in general book sales. People are searching for truth like never before.

  2. Church Attendance Is Plummeting.Pew Research predicts that within 20 years, the United States may no longer be considered a Christian nation. This stark reality presents both a challenge and an opportunity.

Here’s the point: these trends tell us that people are hungry for God’s Word but are hesitant to engage with traditional church settings. They’re buying Bibles, but where are they taking them? I think they're bringing them to people like you and me—ordinary Christians who can meet them where they are.

Most of these new Bible readers aren’t looking for deep theological debates. Instead, they’re asking simple but profound questions like these as they search for help:

  • What does the Bible mean to you?

  • What’s your favorite verse?

  • Why is it your favorite, and how has it shaped your life?

If we “read the room” correctly, we—you, me and Back to the Bible—have an incredible opportunity to meet this moment with purpose. We can inspire people to not just own a Bible but to engage with it meaningfully to transform their lives.

Please let me hear from you! Simply reply back to me right now with one of your favorite verses and how it has impacted your life. You’ll help inspire someone else to take their first step into Scripture. Let’s seize this moment together to show the world what engaging with God’s Word can do. Time is short, and the opportunity is great—let’s not wait! Send your comments to me here.
