Exhort: strongly encourage or urge someone to do something. As you go through today’s spiritual fitness workout, think about who you can exhort to win today spiritually! "But exhort one another every day, as long as it is called 'today,' that none of you may be hardened by the deceitfulness of sin." Hebrews 3:13
STEP 1 - RECEIVE
(Receive God's Word and Grow in Bible Knowledge)
Though the writer of the Book of Hebrews is unknown, and though it was written for a Jewish audience familiar with Jewish history and theology, this is a rich portion of the Bible that cannot be overlooked! In this passage we'll see how Jesus is more than just a great teacher, He's God in the flesh and superior even to the angels.
STEP 2 - REFLECT
(How does this Scripture Apply to your life?)
These days, it seems there is a lot to be angry about. How do we respond to that anger? Is there a way to confront these issues without throwing more fuel on the fire? Join Mark today for some biblical wisdom to guide your own reactions.
STEP 3 - RESPOND
(How will you Win Today?)
If God—the giver of all good gifts—gave us anger, then anger must be good. Right? Spiritual Fitness Coach John Comstock shares how Jesus channeled His anger for good!
Before anger escalates, take some deep breaths and reflect on the situation. Name the emotion you felt BEFORE you began to feel anger. Ask Jesus how to channel your anger to heal, redeem, or restore. Finally, consult a trusted friend about whether or not the action you feel moved to take is consistent with the character of Jesus.
STEP 4 - REVEAL
(How will you reveal Jesus to others today through praying and sharing?)
What is it that prompts prayer in your life? Join Sean today as we pray together.
