Bottom line upfront: You are needed! Please take five minutes to reply to this email and tell me the story of your favorite verse and how it motivated you. This is critical, because by letting us know how a verse encouraged and motivated you to take positive action in your life—and after we have combined your story with the stories of others—these testimonies may actually serve as a tool to help save someone in their spiritual life, and maybe even their physical life. (And if you sent me a verse last week, thank you! I would love another favorite motivational verse from you this week too.)

This week I got stopped in my tracks while scrambling to catch a connecting flight at the Denver airport. My wife Char called about one of the “horse kids” (those who help do barn chores) we used to know. As they grow up and go to college, I start to lose track. And so it hurt so much to hear that this young woman who had helped us out had been found dead. The tears started flowing while I was dodging people and getting on the plane.

This has been so concerning to me since the turn of the new year when we were worrying about another one of the kids at our personal equestrian ministry. He called our daughter Laura and said his friend had disappeared. He was afraid, but also pretty convinced she had killed herself. A few days later, he told Laura his fears were confirmed, and he seemed to start thinking about following in her footsteps.

Laura called with this news and urged me to talk with him. I assured her she had a great relationship with him, and the last thing he would want to do is to hear from the old barn guy. Especially since we’ve never said more than “hi” to each other. We’re still praying for all of our horse kids to find the Lord and His hope.

I mean, really, what could I possibly do at my age to influence others? Most of those around me are so much younger. What could I do to motivate them to move from their level of hopelessness and despair? It's highly probable that just about everyone who reads these Sunday emails has been impacted by suicide, whether through personal thoughts, by knowing someone who has struggled, or in actually experiencing the loss of a loved one.

And you know me. Is there something we could do together to help motivate others to take action in their spiritual life—to have Jesus and His Word help them like it has helped us? So let’s try this again. Together, let’s launch a new call to action rooted in God’s Word.

Why This Matters Now

Three significant trends in our culture today highlight why such a campaign is crucial:

1. Loneliness, hopelessness and despair are running rampant in the US evidenced by the fact that suicide is among the leading causes of death.

2. Church attendance Is declining like never before, meaning the people around us are trying to find answers on their own. (We’re to the point that within 20 years, the U.S. may no longer be considered a Christian nation.) Yet…

3. Bible sales are skyrocketing. People are actively searching for truth, hope, and direction by turning to the Word of God.

This means that YOU and I ARE NEEDED—us everyday followers of Christ. People are hungry for real-life, relatable stories of how the Bible has not only shaped faith but also motivated real action personally and in the world. Your story could be the key to unlocking a deeper faith for someone who is searching for hope. That’s why I think our new call to action should be named “My Favorite Motivational Verse Campaign: Turning Scripture into Action.”

We believe that Scripture has the power to not only transform life and propel individuals into action. Please become a part of this movement. Help harness the power of Scripture in a deeply personal way—by sharing your favorite motivational Bible verse and the action it has inspired in your life.

Just reply with your favorite verse

We are launching the My Favorite Motivational Verse Campaign as a way to inspire action. Here’s how you can join us:

1. Tell Us Your Favorite Motivational Bible Verse. What verse or passage of Scripture has encouraged you to move forward in faith?

2. Share Why It’s Your Favorite. What about this verse speaks to you personally? How did it challenge or inspire you at a pivotal moment in your life?

3. Describe the Action It Inspired. How did this verse move you to step out in faith (like change your career, help someone in need, start a ministry, or serve in a deeper way)? What impact did your action have on others?

Why Your Story Matters

Each verse you share and each action it has inspired will contribute to a larger vision:

  • Compiling 100 Powerful Testimonies that will be shared through devotionals, online campaigns, and discipleship resources.

  • Motivating Believers and Seekers by showing them that Scripture isn’t just ancient words—it’s alive, powerful, and capable of sparking life transformation.

Just like how God spoke and motivated you through His Word, who knows the tremendous impact your story could have on someone else in dire need? Send your comments to me here.
